More than 500 designers, architects and industry providers have already registered their interest in the Reducing violence and aggression in A&E by design challenge.

There’s less than three weeks left for you to form teams and take part in this national design challenge to develop solutions that reduce the human and financial cost of violence and aggression towards NHS staff in A&E.

The DH White Paper ‘Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS’ states:
“Our ambition is to create the largest and most vibrant social enterprise sector in the world”. “We believe that the NHS is an integral part of Big Society”. This event is a response to the White Paper, as we begin the transition process come and hear how our trust supports social enterprise, what we can do for you and how you can get involved.

In a recent survey of NHS BEN staff, respondents reported that:
37% do not have contact with social enterprises in their line of work at the PCT
85% have never been involved in the development of a social enterprise
77% would not know how to go about developing a social enterprise within the PCT

To build awareness and understanding of social enterprise, this event is an important opportunity to explore:

  • Links between GP Commissioning and social enterprise
  • Tried and tested examples of working with social enterprises in the NHS
  • Opportunities to access seed funding
  • Specialist social enterprise support available to NHS staff

‘BEN’s Got Talent’ is a campaign to tackle health inequalities by unleashing the entrepreneurial talent of people in Birmingham. The campaign is managed by NHS Birmingham East and North’s Social Entrepreneur in Residence, supported by the Young Foundation.
  
Submit an idea if you can identify:
  • A problem, gap or an un-met need in healthcare
  • An innovative and creative solution to address your specific problem
  • How your idea will create positive and lasting change to tackle health inequalities
  • How your idea meets local and national strategies i.e. NHS Birmingham East and North’s Strategic Plan
  • How your idea will make money and be sustainable
  • How your idea can be delivered beyond Birmingham
  • An  individual or team with entrepreneurial flair who has an idea and wants to make it happen
